My brother is a vegan. I assumed that catering for a vegan in London would be easy, I was wrong, as many restaurants don't have any imagination with recipes. Whilst I was trying to find a restaurant on the Southbank that would please everybody in our party, I saw The Real Greek have a vegan menu.
The Southbank Real Greek is in a wonderful location on the Southbank, moments away from Bankside Pier.
We dined just in time to experience the lunch menu, where for £8.50 we had a feast. My brother, the vegan, was suitably delighted with the menu on offer to him, as was my carnivore Dad.
The lunch menu is available Monday-Friday 12-5pm. You can choose from a Greek trio, a Greek plate or a souvlaki wrap and side.
The Greek trio is a selection of crudities or bread, dip, a meat or a vegetable item and a side. The Greek Plate has a side, a meat or vegetable item, flat bread, tzatziki and Greek salad.
Vegans have a separate menu so it takes the guess work out of what they can eat on the menu, and can also partake in the lunch offers.
The food was fresh and arrived quickly, the staff were also very helpful and fun.
The Athenian dinner menu is similar to the lunch menu but also great value at £9.95. You can add a glass of prosecco to your dinner from this menu for £13.95.
The Real Greek is perfect for large groups as they make sharing food very easy, and all diets are catered for and a party menu to suit all budgets is available.
I have also eaten recently at The Real Greek in Westfield Stratford which was also lovely as they also have live music.
There are branches of The Real Greek in London in Westfield Stratford, Covent Garden, Soho, Bankside, Marylebone, Dulwich, Muswell Hill, Spitalfields, St Martins Lane and Westfield London.
